New Work in Progress...

Just a quick post to show you what I'm working on! I wanted to do some floral type illustration work, but not too 'pretty' (I hope you understand this, I know what I mean hehe). I wanted to incorporate colour, texture and line work that created a more striking kind of image. It's early days but I'm happy with how it's progressing. (It's a fiddly piece with lots of detail..)

The line work I placed down first proved quite tricky and I was a little worried it would look too busy. I'm glad I persevered though, it's taking shape quite nicely, better than I had hoped for!

I am also happy to announce that I am a sponsor of the wonderful Tigerlilly Quinn blog! The blog, ran by the lovely (fellow Tea & Crayon member) Fritha, is full of such beautiful content and I'm proud to be associated! :) (see my sponsor button below!)

I'll be writing some special blog posts next week as thank you to some wonderful people I've been working with this past week. Keep an eye open! And don't forget, Tea & Crayons are at Uncontained on Tuesday (5th)! Pop along and draw with us (and eat lots of cake!) in Shoreditch from 11am to 5pm!

Tea & Crayons at UNCONTAINED

"In June and July, ShellsuitZombie is taking over the 55DSL store in BOXPARK, Shoreditch, and asking thirty creative individuals, groups and companies to take a day each."

 Come and join us ladies of Tea and Crayons on Tuesday 5th June (It also happens to be the Jubilee day!!) at Uncontained. We're very excited!
 

We'll be hosting a wonderful tea party, exhibiting and selling our work, live-drawing a Massive Monarchy Mural on the walls, casual advice session and lots of general fun! There will be biscuits, tea and us smiling ladies to make you feel welcome. So do pop along and see us if you are in the capital that day! If you cannot make it down to see us, keep an eye on our twitter feed, I'm sure we'll be tweeting and sharing photos throughout the day! :)

The Best of 2011

Well this year has been rather wonderful - the launch of Amelia's Compendium of Fashion Illustration, an illustration for the V&A, final show, graduation, mural work, brother's wedding, winning Company's High Street Edit fashion illustration competition, Shipshape Studio opening and stocking my work, first issue of Lionheart Magazine out (and amazing), Digital Arts tutorial, the arrival baby Crayonette and ahh. I'm really excited for the year ahead and my one resolution is to get myself more organised. This means I need to purchase an inspiring diary, too. Win! I hope your year has been wonderful and here's hoping the next will be amazing.

Smarten Up Your Fashion Drawings

Company Illustrations!

When I have images (proper ones, not my attempts!) of the magazine pages my illustrations are on, I will share them with you. For now, here are the illustrations! I hope you like them!

Fan Di Fendi - the brief for the fragrance story piece was to draw the girl that embodies the fragrance.

 Victoriana at Pucci A/W11. Company's Fashion Editor says, "I'm also lusting after Victorian lace and ruffle-neck shirts."

Sheepskin at Isabel Marani A/W11. Fashion Director, Oonagh Brennan says: "It has to be the hottest trend in coats this season - the stylish, super-practical sheepskin! From belted feminine styles to give you shape to the cool oversized 'Bel Boy'"

This colour blocking piece was not used in the end, but I'm very pleased with it, so wanted to share! :)

H is for Homespun. (Henry Holland) "Yes, that really is the blanket that used to be on the back of your granny's sofa. But thanks to Henry Holland, it's cool with a capital C.
